New in CallCovered: voicemails as texts, and four words that run the rest of the job
Brandon Guynn · Founder, CallCovered ·
CallCovered started with one job: when you can’t pick up, the caller gets a text from your business number in under 5 seconds, and their reply lands on your cell. That hasn’t changed.
But the missed call is only the start of the job. You still have to call them back, get them on the schedule, make sure they’re home when you show up, get paid, and ask for the review. As of this week, all of that runs from the same text thread too. Nothing to install, nothing to log into, and no change to the price. Every feature below is on both plans.
Hi, this is Mike's Plumbing - sorry we missed your call! We're on a job right now. Reply here with what you need and we'll get right back to you. Reply STOP to opt out.
Voicemails, texted to you
After the text goes out, a caller who stays on the line can leave a message. You get it as a text: written out, with a link to play it. Reply to that text and your answer goes to the caller, from your business number.
VOICEMAIL from (717) 555-0199 (0:34): "Hi, it's Jim on Market Street. Water heater's leaking in the basement. Call me back when you can." Listen: https://www.getcallcovered.com/api/vm?k=... (Reply here and it goes to ...0199 from your business number)
The written-out part is done by machine, so it gets a word wrong now and then. The play link is always there for the ones that matter. Don’t want voicemails at all? Switch it off in your dashboard.
CALL: call them back without giving out your cell
Text CALL to your CallCovered number. Your phone rings; answer, press 1, and you’re connected to your last customer. They see your business number, never your cell. For someone else, put their number after it: CALL 5551234567.
CALL
CallCovered: calling you now. Answer and press 1 to connect to (717) 555-0199. They'll see your business number.
REMIND: one text and they’re reminded
Booked the job? Text REMIND Tue 2pm (or a date, like REMIND 9/30 2:30pm). Your customer gets one reminder ahead of the visit: the evening before if there’s time, otherwise that morning or two hours before. We text you back with when it will go out. REMIND OFF cancels it.
REMIND Tue 2pm
Reminder from Mike's Plumbing: you're on our schedule for Tue, Sep 29 at 2:00 PM. Reply here if anything changes. Reply STOP to opt out.
PAY: your payment link, from the driveway
Paste the payment link you already use (Square, Stripe, PayPal.me, Venmo, Cash App or your invoicing tool) into your dashboard once. Then text PAY, the amount and a note. The money goes straight to you; CallCovered never touches it and takes no cut.
PAY 350 water heater flush
Mike's Plumbing: your total is $350.00 for water heater flush. You can pay here: https://square.link/u/mikes-plumbing Questions? Just reply to this text. Reply STOP to opt out.
REVIEW: still here, still one text
Finished the job? Text REVIEW with their number and first name, and they get a friendly text with your Google review link. Every customer you ask gets the link. That’s Google’s rule and ours.
A Monday text with last week’s numbers
Monday morning you get last week in one message: missed calls answered by text, who wrote back, voicemails and follow-ups. Put your average job value in your dashboard and it adds an estimate: callers who wrote back times your number. It’s a rough guide, not money in the bank, and we label it that way. A fuller report comes by email on the 1st of the month.
CallCovered weekly for Mike's Plumbing (Sep 21-27): 7 missed calls answered by text (6 callers) 4 wrote back 2 voicemails texted to you 3 follow-ups sent Est. value: $1,600 at your $400 avg job Tip: text CALL to call your last customer back from your business number. Turn these texts off in your dashboard.
Get more texts
Some customers would rather text than call. Your dashboard now has a QR code that opens a text to your business number (put it on the truck, yard signs and invoices), plus a “Call or text” line for your Google and Facebook pages and a button for your website. Those texts land on your cell like any other.
What didn’t change
- The price. Plans still start at $129/mo, month to month, every feature included.
- No app and no CRM. Everything above works by text from the phone in your pocket.
- Your number. Every text and every call-back comes from the business number your customers already know.
- STOP means stop. Anyone who texts STOP gets nothing more from your number (no reminders, no payment links), which keeps your number in good standing with the carriers.
Already a customer?
It’s already on. Open your dashboard and add two things in Settings: your payment link and your average job value. Then try CALL once. The Customer Guide walks through all of it, and there are wallet cards with the commands to print for the truck.
